With its cozy atmosphere and comfortable seating, The Pursuit Wine Bar is perfect for those looking for a romantic feel to start their evening. Happy hour has drink specials that are perfect for sharing or ordering individually – $3 off wine flights, $2 off glasses of wine and cocktails, and $1 off beers. If you are in the mood for an appetizer, enjoy $2 off any of their small plates. Happy hour is from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. Select bottles of wine are $19 on Wednesday, so that is another option for Valentine’s Day drinks.
For a happy hour with a view, check out Ben’s Upstairs. The enclosed rooftop has beautiful views of the H Street Corridor – who doesn’t love that? Draft beers, draft wines, margaritas, and mojitos are $6, while champagne is $5. There are a handful of happy hour snacks available as well, all for $9 or less. For $39 you can enjoy a 3-course meal from Smith Commons’ specialty Valentine’s Day menu. There are various appetizers, entrées, and dessert options on the specialty menu, but their regular dinner menu will be available as well. They do take reservations, so be sure to call ahead and secure your spot.
DC Harvest is a popular and intimate farm-to-table restaurant on H Street. With their Valentine’s Day specials, this is a great place to take your special someone for a romantic evening. To secure your spot, make a reservation and pay a $5/person deposit, which will be refunded in full. On top of their seasonal menu, there will be Valentine’s Day specials, a new reserve wine list, and Valentine’s Day cocktails. The wide variety of seasonal appetizers, entrees, freshly made pasta, and desserts do not disappoint.
The famous Dangerously Delicious Pies is the perfect place to go if you’d like to end your evening on a sweet note. There are a variety of pies to choose from, and they can be ordered by the slice or by the whole pie. Go all out and top your pie with ice cream and whipped cream, both are available. A Valentine’s Day game night may be unexpected, but there is no doubt that it will be fun and full of laughs.
Catch a movie at the Angelika Pop-Up at Union Market. Angelika Pop-Up is an independent movie theater where you can view specialty films while enjoying craft beer, wine, and snacks. Drinks and food can be enjoyed before or after your film in the lounge, or while you watch. Three films will be playing on Valentine’s Day: Fifty Shades Freed, The Final Year, and The Post. Viewing times vary for each and seating is reserved, so be sure to plan ahead.
Toasted Bingo at the Rock and Roll Hotel is the perfect Valentine’s Day group outing. The event is free, the bar opens at 7:00 and the first Bingo game is at 8:00 pm. Their usual Boozy Bingo nights occurred throughout December and January, but as a Valentine’s Day special, Toasted Bingo will take place. Happy hour lasts all night long and includes $3 Tecate, $4 Bud and Bud Light, $4 rail drinks, ½ price wings, and $1 off all other menu items.
