Springtime in DC is one of the best times! As the temperatures begin to rise, there are more and more ways to get out and enjoy the city. Festivals, baseball games, and outdoor events are just a few of our favorite ways to spend our weekends during the spring. During the month of April, the city will be bustling with both residents and tourists enjoying the plethora of events going on. National Cherry Blossom Festival
What: One of the most anticipated spring events in DC, the Cherry Blossom Festival is the celebration of 3,000 cherry trees that were given to the United States from Japan in 1912. Throughout the month-long celebration, there are several events taking place throughout the District.

National’s Home Opener
What: Watch the Washington Nationals home opener game against the New York Mets at Nationals Park. This will be an exciting weekend in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, with additional games on Saturday and Sunday. If you can’t make it into one of the games, local restaurants and bars are sure to be celebrating opening weekend as well!

Anacostia River Festival
What: A celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Anacostia Park and the closing of the 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival. Canoe on the River, ride a bike in the bike parade, play lawn games, and explore the Artist Market, featuring local Southeast DC artists.
When: April 15th | 1:00-5:00pm
Where: Anacostia Park
What: Washington DC’s 32nd annual International Film Festival, featuring 80 films over 11 days. The festival is made up of movie showings, discussions, and special events. The 2018 opening film is This is Our Land, a French-Belgium film that speaks to common social issues in today’s society. Several other genres will be featured throughout the festival.

DC Beer Festival
What: Craft breweries, food trucks, and live music all throughout Nationals stadium make DC Beer Fest one of the top April events in DC. There are two sessions that make up the day, both of which consist of unlimited tastings. Food from a variety of food trucks is available but sold separately.
When: April 21st | 12:00-8:00pm | First Session 1:00-3:00pm | Second Session 5:00-8:00pm

Earth Optimism Day at the National Zoo
What: Celebrate Earth Day at the National Zoo with hands-on learning, interactive demonstrations, and family-friendly activities, all led by Zoo experts. In honor of Earth Day, the focus is on conservation, the solutions being used to save species, and what we can do to help.
When: April 21st | 10:00am-2:00pm
Where: Smithsonian’s National Zoo
Wine & Food Festival
What: Taste and enjoy over 150 different wines, beers, and spirits at the 2018 Wine & Food Festival. Tasting is unlimited and includes all types of adult beverages. There will be food available for purchase from both local restaurants and food trucks. Guests receive a souvenir wine glass, and there is a wine store on site where any wines from the event can be purchased.
