Date Night at 2M

You don’t have to go too far for Date Night at 2M.

Valentine’s day is quickly approaching! And 2M Street is the perfect apartment community for date night! With access to incredible building features like our lounge areas, movie theatre room, bar seating, and rooftop sky lounge. You have all of the ingredients needed to create a romantic occasion for you and your significant other.

The 2M Date Night Blueprint.

For safety reasons, our community spaces have not been able to host large events; this opens up an opportunity for our 2M residents to create more intimate experiences in community spaces meant to host large groups of people. It sounds like a fantastic date!

Below are a couple of ways you and your partner can have the perfect night in!

Romantic Date Night:

Covers & Rooftop Views: Yes, it’s cold outside. But we know that there’s no better excuse to snuggle up close to your partner. Make a lot of hot chocolate, grab some blankets, and enjoy panoramic DC views as you cozy up next to the love of your life.

For extra romance, couples can create a list of 30 reasons why they fell in love and then take turns going through their lists. — Be sure to add in some funny/witty ones for some laughs.

Wine Tasting in the Community Lounge: Our community lounge serves as an excellent setting for an intimate bonding experience. Couples can make a list of wines they want to try, pick them up from the store, and then create a romantic wine tasting date using the bar seating in the community lounge.

Decide which wines you like most, and then add those to the “Must keep in the fridge” list.

2M Movie Night: The movie theatre might be closed, but not at 2M! Our movie theatre room is everything you would want in an at-home theatre. Pop the popcorn, pack the candy and enjoy a beautiful night in front of the big screen.

For some extra fun, create a theme around your movie night. Pick the movies ahead of time, throw on some themed clothing, and go full-on mushy couple for Valentine’s Day!

While there are some tremendous intimate spaces at 2M, they’re also some great places to get a little more active for a date night. Here’s how you can turn up the intensity for date night at 2M.

Competitive Game Night:

Love & Basketball: Use the 2M basketball court to have some fun with your partner. Play a little one on one, play a few games of H.O.R.S.E, or simply see who has the best jump shot.

Resident Game Lounge: Our game lounge can add a lot of laughs to date night. Residents have access to our billiard and shuffleboard tables to make for a fun type of night.

Create your own game night: The 2M lounge areas are also really great for creating a custom type of game night setting. Pick up some of your favorite household games, and make a tournament out of it. The person that wins the most board games will become the official date night winner. But you both will know that time spent together makes both parties winners.

Special moments happen here.

The types of events we would typically do for Valentine’s day are limited this year. But as a 2M resident, date night doesn’t have to drop off. You have all the features you need to make your partner feel special.

Best Apartment Lessons to take into 2021

2M Street Apartments Lessons to take into 2021

As we kick off the first week of the new year, there are probably many things you’re looking forward to leaving behind in the previous year. Rightfully so, 2020 was an indescribable year; it left many us in an unfamiliar place, and in turn, have you believing that nothing good came from it. Yes, last year was very challenging, and while it might be easy to want to forget 2020 entirely, there are many things to take away. We learned a lot about ourselves; we found out how strong we can be, we found out creative we can be, we found out how patient we can be. These lessons and realizations will continue to help us as we navigate into 2021.

Last year, we became more familiar with ourselves; we got more familiar with something else, too—our apartment homes.

As an apartment dweller, you spent more time inside of your four walls in 2020 than any other period before. This time made you realize that your apartment space needs a fresh look going into a new year after months of looking at the same decor and stylings.

If 2020 didn’t teach us anything else, it taught all of us how to get creative with our spaces in more ways than we can imagine. Use that same energy to add some new life into your area for a fresh 365 days.

Below are four apartment features you must have for 2021.

1. A REAL “ WFH” Station

Last year could have easily be defined as “The year we all started working from home.” While that caught pretty much all of us off guard in 2020, 2021, there is no excuse not to be fully prepared for however much longer we will be working from home.

For those apartment renters’ that don’t have an extra room to set up as an office area, there are several ways to accomplish remote work productivity in a small apartment space.

Below are a few helpful articles you can read to start your journey of mastering your apartment workspace.

2. New Cooking Supplies

In 2020, we all took home cooking to new heights! All the extra time spent inside our apartment homes had a lot of us mastering old recipes while simultaneously exploring brand new ones.

While doing so, the cooking tools that you previously use on occasion went into overdrive.

As we move into the new year, add a fresh look to your kitchen by purchasing some new cooking essentials. Like most newly discovered apartment chefs, you’ve probably already found some new kitchen gadgets that will make your cooking experience that much better!

Here is a list of a few must-have tools for your kitchen going into the new year.

3. Working out from Home Equipment

Last year, we had to get used to working out from home. Even though our gym has since reopened using COVID-19 protocols, some apartment-dwellers might have found an at-home workout routine that does the trick!

Start your new year off with some fresh workout equipment.

Here are some excellent fitness equipment options for your apartment home.

4. Apartment Organizing Tools

In 2020, we learned of all the purposes that our apartment homes can serve; our spaces became art studios, gyms, movie theaters, and more! With all of these activities, keeping your apartment home organized became that much harder.

Here are some apartment organization tools you need for a productive 2021.

Last year took us for an unexpected ride. And there’s nothing like that “fresh start” feeling. But as we attempt to make this year the best one we’ve ever had, let’s not forget the lessons learned in 2020 that will benefit us greatly in this current year.

3 Easy Spring-Cleaning Tips for your Apartment

January and February are a thing of the past, and March is officially on the calendar! Along with warmer weather and cherry blossom season, the time to begin your spring cleaning is here. For renters’ this is an exciting opportunity to get a fresh jump on sprucing up your apartment in the front end of the new year!

We know that cleaning and organizing your apartment sounds fantastic, but we also understand that it requires time and energy that a lot you reading this might not have an overabundance of in your everyday lives.

For this reason, we’ve decided to overview three time efficient cleaning tips to make getting your apartment clean super easy just in time for the spring season!

Tip #1: BREAK-DOWN “THE BIG 3” CLEANING TASKS

Cleaning your apartment can be broken down into what we call, “The Big 3” – The kitchen, the bathroom, and the bedroom. These are generally the areas of the apartment that are used the most and are going to take the longest to clean; this makes it super important that these areas are addressed first. Studies show that cleaning at least 1 of these three areas make the most visual difference in the cleanliness of your apartment.

Cleaning is already exhausting enough as it is, don’t make it any harder by tasking yourself with cleaning every closet, nook, and cranny inside of your apartment in a single day. If you’re short on time, break down the significant 3 areas of your apartment as you see fit, and tidy up accordingly.

Tip #2: CLEAR THE CLUTTER

A big factor in organizing your apartment home is knowing when to part ways with additional materials that create clutter; this means trashing the mountain of junk mail, old receipts, and even older grocery lists laying on all of your counter surfaces.

Doing this is a fast and effective way of cleaning your apartment when you’re in a time crunch. You will quickly find that having less clutter makes your apartment home feel more open and most importantly cleaner.

So, say goodbye to clutter, and hello to spring clean!

Tip #3: SMELLS GOOD, LOOKS GOOD.

The smell of your apartment home matters when it comes time to freshen up. We all know that it’s unsettling when your apartment is a disaster area, but it’s even worse when the smell of your apartment matches the look.

Instead of adding insult to injury, try adding in a scent like a candle, a scented plug-in, or an essential oil diffuser to your cleaning process when you’re short on time. In no way are we saying a clean smell makes up for a messy apartment, but the aroma of your place goes a long way when you don’t have hours to deep clean your apartment.

Cleaning will always be a process, but that doesn’t mean it has to be a difficult process.

Welcome to March, and happy spring cleaning!

Meet The 2M Team: Nick Beaver

Say hello to 2M leasing consultant Nick Beaver!  As part of the 2M team, we asked Nick to tell us a little about himself, how he ended up here and what he loves about NoMa and DC.

What was the path that led you here, either personally or professionally?
I have always been interested in urban-development and WC Smith is a leader for the DC area. With every new development WC Smith has built, they have also built entire communities along the way.

What made you want to come work with WC Smith?
WC Smith has been around for 46 years and they continue to expand. As I type this there are hundreds of apartment units being constructed/planned by WC Smith.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Explore DC and the surrounding area. You literally have everything you can want within a short drive: beach, mountains, other big cities, great shopping, etc…

Where do you see NoMa in 5 years?
NoMa is already growing rapidly, and in five years I imagine the neighborhood being even more dense and livable than it already is. There are plans for a movie theatre, more restaurants, nightlife options, and shops. I would love to see a Target nearby!

If you only had 1 day in DC, what are your top 3 musts?
I’ll be honest, it wouldn’t be the monuments or museums. Although DC is known world-wide for the Washington Monument, countless free museums, and other historic places, to me there is so much more to DC. I would stop at least one place (restaurant, bar, park, etc.) in a few of DC’s vibrant neighborhoods. Must visit neighborhoods are: DuPont/Logan Circles, U Street, H Street, Adams Morgan, Georgetown, Chinatown, and Eastern Market.

What do you think draws residents to 2M/NoMa now?
2M has more amenities than I’ve seen anywhere else, and there is no extra charge! NoMa is a growing area that has so much of what you could want including free neighborhood wifi, outdoor movies, access to public transit, and proximity to the H Street Corridor and other nightlife areas.

What is your favorite green feature at 2M?
The roof-top courtyard.

What is your favorite 2M amenity?
For sure the pool.

Describe your perfect day at 2M:
Heading up to the pool with some friends to enjoy a few drinks, get some sun, and cook out on the grills. Later in the afternoon I would hang out in the skyline lounge with some friends before going out to some nearby bars.

Why would your pet love to live here?
My dog (he’s a long-haired Chihuahua) would have so many friends.

If you could chose a floor to live on at 2M, what would it be?
Eleventh floor. I like to be high up, and I prefer odd numbers.

What is your favorite place to grab lunch in the neighborhood?
Shake Shack

3 words to describe 2M/NoMa:
Upscale, urban, and unique.

Meet The 2M Team: Paulito Maslog

Meet The 2M Team: Assistant Property Manager Paulito Maslog

Have you had a chance to get to know our Assistant Property Manager Paulito yet?  We asked him to share a little bit about himself, how he ended up at 2M and what he loves most about being here.

What made you want to come work for WC Smith/2M?
The opportunity for career growth and obtain valuable work experiences.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
On my free time, I spend time with my family and especially my daughter. I also like to play tennis and watch Redskins football games.

Where do you see NoMa in 5 years?
A vibrant area. I wouldn’t be surprise if it becomes like another Chinatown or U street area. Looks like the city is definitely trying to promote the area.

If you only had 1 day in DC, what are your top 3 musts?
I would like to visit the White House and grab some seafood at Maine Avenue, SE.

If 2M were a song, what would it be?
Hustlin by Rick Ross

What do you think draws residents to 2M/NoMa now?
The amenities and the apartments.

What is your favorite green feature at 2M?
The electronic leases.

What is your favorite 2M amenity?
The Skyline Lounge.

Describe your perfect day at 2M.
When a prospect or resident expresses how they love the apartment and the building.

Why would your pet love to live here?
The dog park and how pet friendly we are with dogs.

If you could choose a floor to live on at 2M?
I would like to live on the 12th floor.

What is your favorite place to grab lunch in the neighborhood?
From the variety of food trucks in the neighborhood.
