Fall is here and with a new season comes new and exciting things in NoMa! Here are a few things you don’t want to miss right here in our neighborhood:
Pumpkin Carving Happy Hour
Thursday October 23rd, 4-7PM
Corner or First and Pierce Streets, NE
Head over to the grassy field adjacent to 1100 First St NE this afternoon to carve a free pumpkin and enjoy a petting zoo, candy scavenger hunt, face painting and live music. Snacks and drinks will also be available for purchase. More info here.
After a series of free introductory classes throughout NoMa (even one on our rooftop!), Yoga NoMa is officially open at 1200 First Street! The brand new studio offers Yoga and Pilates Mat classes, available in an introductory unlimited 30-day pass, a monthly membership or individual sessions. See their full schedule of classes here.
Earlier this year, the NoMa Parks Foundation and NoMa Bid conducted a design competition in an effort to beautify the underpass below the Metro railroad tracks. The top 10 finalists have been named and you can see the designs here!
Saturday October 25th, 2-5PM
1225 First Street NE
Why should humans have all the fun? Here’s an event you and your four-legged friends can both enjoy: Barktoberfest at the Hilton Garden Inn, put on by Pet Harbor Rescue and Referral! The cost of admission covers traditional German cuisine (Brats, sauerkraut, and potato salad), seasonal beer (or wine and sangria, if you prefer) and specially crafted sausage, Dog Brew and pretzels, made just for the pups! There will be a silent auction, contest for best dog costume and a pet photographer onsite. RSVP here.
