Reasons We Love Living in NoMa

NoMa is the best neighborhood in DC

Washington DC has some of the most exciting neighborhoods in the nation! No matter what type of lifestyle you desire to have, there is a DC community out there that can serve your needs perfectly! While there are many neighborhood options to choose from in DC, not too many compare to the type of feeling you get when you live in NoMa, DC. It’s bigger than the abundance of local businesses that are easily accessible to residents or the type of entertainment options in the neighborhood.

When you live in NoMa, DC, you immediately become infused with a hometown feel! NoMa gives everything from walkability, central location, food options, etc. There aren’t too many DC neighborhoods that give you the big city location with the small-town feel; NoMa is one of them!

Below some reasons why you will love living in NoMa DC

Accessibility/Walkability: NoMa offers premiere walkability to a lot of DC transportation conveniences. As a NoMa resident, you’re within blocks of the NoMa-Gallaudet Metro Station, giving you access to all of the surrounding DC neighborhoods while also opening up pockets of Maryland and Virginia. You are one mile away from Union Station minutes away from I-395. Having this accessibility opens up the Maryland and Virginia areas and traveling options to nearby states such as New York, Pennsylvania, and more!

Locally, you’re within walking distance from one of the biggest NoMa staples like Wundergarten, one of DC’s most popular beer gardens, and Union Market, the premier local business haven in NoMa. These locations are known for their festive events, delicious drinks, and incredible vibes all year round.

Beyond that, living in NoMa also gives you excellent household convenience store options, including a Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, CVS, Streets Market, and many more!

NoMa Bid Events: While NoMa gives you unlimited freedom to enjoy many fun events on your own, you never have to overthink what your next activity will be. NoMa Bid plans year-round events for DC residents. These types of events cover a wide selection of interest, including:

  • Big-screen movie series
  • Pumpkinpalooza

Restaurants on the Red Line – Woodley Park Zoo/Adams Morgan

Here at 2M Apartments, we adore our proximity to the Metro.  With only 2 blocks to the NoMa-Gallaudet Station, it is so easy to access shops, office buildings and restaurants along the Red Line.  To make it even simpler, we have compiled our favorite eateries that are just steps from various Red Line stations in the District.

This week we are featuring the residential, accessible neighborhood of Woodley Park.  Spend the day at the Smithsonian National Zoo, then enjoy dinner at one of these gems, just steps from the Woodley Park Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro:

Lebanese Taverna:  Voted Best Middle Eastern Restaurant by the Best of D.C. for the last five years in a row, Lebanese Taverna offers small plates with big flavor.  A warm, inviting dining room and enthusiastic, informed service combine to create a memorable dining experience.  Some highlights include:

-Freska- a curiously refreshing, house-made sparkling beverage of parsley and lime

-Baba Ghanoush- traditional eggplant flavor gets a tart upgrade with a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds (served with fresh, hot pita bread, of course)

-Watermelon Salad- a perfect marriage of textures, dressed in fine olive oil and tossed with salty French feta, organic mint and toasted pistachios

-Finish your meal with fresh baklava and Turkish coffee, then give thanks that the Metro is directly across the street!
