Holiday Shopping in NoMa For Everyone On Your List
The holidays are in full swing, and it is time to get gifting! Lucky for you, you can knock out all of your shopping without ever leaving NoMa. There are a variety of shops and services throughout the neighborhood where you can find that special something for every individual on your list. Union Market will become your best friend – the various vendors and shops will help you cross off nearly every item on your gift list. There are several other gems throughout NoMa that will help you finish up any remaining shopping. We personally love to get creative and find the perfect gifts, so we have compiled a list of our go-to spots to find the perfect holiday gifts for everyone on your list.
For The Homebody
Everyone has that special someone on their list who loves to relax in the comfort of their home. Specialty art, decor, furniture, and all things home-related are the perfect gift for them. We would recommend making a stop at Salt & Sundry, a shop right inside of Union Market. Salt & Sundry is a home goods store with the most unique hand-crafted items you could find for your home. Intricate pillows and throws, candles, jewelry, and accessories are just a few of the things you will find here. We love the distinct style of Salt & Sundry, and all of their pieces make for the perfect gift for someone who likes to kick back and relax at home.
For The Foodie
Union Market is a food lover’s heaven. The market is full of vendors and restaurants serving delicious food and local products. A simple yet cherished gift for your favorite foodie is a gift card to the newest and greatest restaurant, and that can easily be found around Union Market. O-Ku, located right outside of the market, would be our top suggestion. This modern Japanese restaurant is new to the NoMa neighborhood and well worth visiting. Delicious sushi, intricate cocktails, and funky bars are what you can expect here. If that doesn’t sound right for the foodie on your list, you are sure to find something just wandering through Union Market.
For The Bookworm
If you haven’t caught on yet, Union Market will be one-stop shopping for all of your holiday needs. This is no exception for the bookworm on your list. Politics and Prose is an independent bookstore located in Union Market with a variety of books, classes, and events available. Whether you select the perfect book or pre-purchase a spot in one of their classes or events, you can’t go wrong. Politics and Prose memberships are available as well, which is another great option for the book lover you might be shopping for.
For The Fitness Junkie
Another great spot for gift purchasing in NoMa is the REI Flagship Store. REI has it all for the fitness lover on your list – running and yoga gear, hiking and cycling equipment, and much more. New running shoes for your favorite runner, a yoga mat for your beloved yogi, or the latest and greatest road bike for the cyclist in your life are all great gift ideas that can be found at REI. If you are shopping for a specific activity, but unsure of what gift items may be needed, check out REI’s “checklists” online for some further direction.
For The Explorer
Like Union Market, REI is our go-to store in NoMa when it comes to holiday shopping. Not only do they have everything you could need, and more, for any sort of outdoor activity, they have a variety of classes and events as well. REI is easily one of the top places to go for all things camping, hiking, and climbing. Utilize their checklists to find the perfect gift for your outdoor explorer, or take the expert advice from the store representatives. Either way, you can’t go wrong. Various classes and events are offered, such as Introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing, Fall Foliage Hiking Series, Map and Compass Navigation Basics, and more. Purchase a spot in any of these courses as a fun and interactive present.
